Residential reconstruction

Adapting an existing home

Reconstruction can adapt a house to new needs: a different layout, more space, renewed structures and building services. First, it is necessary to understand what was built, what was changed previously and which proposals are feasible.

Survey before design decisions

Measurements and inspection are compared with available drawings. Foundations, walls, floors, roofs and services are assessed. New openings, extensions and changes in loading are considered in the design before demolition starts.

Organising the work

If the home remains occupied, access, separation of work areas and temporary service connections need to be agreed separately. Prepare plans, photographs of problem areas and a list of proposed changes for the initial enquiry.
